The Lockdown Project - April 2020
The lockdown project was born out of a need to continue shooting during the coronavirus pandemic. Like many others during this time I was unable to continue working as normal, I craved getting back behind the camera. Knowing how the lockdown was effecting my own home I realised there were so many others with their own stories to tell, I wanted to capture them and share those stories. I started photographing a few of my neighbours, but with a lack of participants I decided to branch out using social media. I found lots of very willing families in the local area willing to be a part of the project, so I began shooting them on their doorsteps/through a window following social distancing guidelines. At each shoot I asked for a paragraph or two from them on their experience of lockdown, how they were coping and what their working situation was in light of Covid - You can read each of their stories on Facebook and Instagram underneath their photos.
As the project grew bigger I put a fundraiser in place for Women’s Aid (a cause very close to my heart), and we raised and incredible £890. A huge thank you goes to those that volunteered themselves for the project and for those that donated to the fund!
